Introduced in 1997 the Sony Mavica MVC-FD5 and the MVC-FD7 were the first digital cameras to use standard 3.5-inch floppy disk as storage. Both featured a CCD sensor with a resolution of 640x480 pixels. The unit retailed under 600$ and could store up to 55 images per disk.
